Effects of kidney nourishing and bone strengthening decoction on re-fracture after percutaneous vertebral augmentation in osteoporotic compression fractures

Kidney Nourishing and Bone Strengthening Decoction, a traditional Chinese herbal formula, has been known for its role in regulating bone metabolism and enhancing bone density (BD). Osteoporotic compression fractures are common clinical complications in patients with osteoporosis, and percutaneous vertebral augmentation is a commonly used treatment method. This work aimed to investigate the preventive effect of the Kidney Nourishing and Bone Strengthening Decoction combined with conventional Western medicine treatment on the occurrence of vertebral re-fracture after percutaneous vertebral augmentation in osteoporotic compression fractures. Kidney Nourishing and Bone Strengthening Decoction combined with conventional Western medicine treatment was an integrated therapeutic approach that can effectively prevent vertebral re-fracture after percutaneous vertebral augmentation in osteoporotic compression fractures, regulate bone metabolism, and enhance BD.
